Abstract

The article features the five components of the Monthly Retail Trading Survey (MRTS) including seasonality, trend-cycle, and Easter holiday effect. Topics covered include time-series data evolution demonstrated in the trend-cycle portion while transient movements for the short term are shown in components including trading day, seasonal and irregular. Also mentioned are the X-12-Arima software for seasonal adjustment of Retail Trade data, the X-11 analysis method and seasonally adjusted data.
