The article focuses on theologian Anthony Bartlett's concept of abyssal compassion and theory of nonviolent atonement. Topics discussed include the nonviolent approach of Bartlett's work in his book "Cross Purposes: The Violent Grammar of Christian Atonement," Anselmian traditions, and views of Mennonite theologian J. Denny Weaver for narrative Christus Victor.
