Abstract

In this article the authors reflect on the possibility that the Joint Action on Monitoring Injuries in Europe (JAMIE), a project on collecting and monitoring injury data, will be left undone as the European Commission (EC), most European Union (EU) countries, including Great Britain, are not committed to continuing the project when it ends in 2014. It discusses the benefits of injury surveillance in terms of reducing the number of injuries at home and in road traffic collisions.
