Abstract
- The article discusses the political factions which are operating within the higher-level synods of the Catholic Church as of 2014, highlighting the events of the extraordinary synod on the family held on October 16, 2014. Introductory comments note the topics of significance within the bishops' meeting. Underlying issues fueling disputes listed include differences between the German and African bishops, the procedural structure of the synod, and the relation of the church to postmodern society.
