Abstract

This study captures the challenges of providing resuscitation to newborns in Baghdad, Iraq, in a medical setting with limited equipment. The use of acupressure for stimulating resuscitation was studied with beneficial outcome. Initial results showed that 84% of the 50 infants studied achieved the highest Apgar score possible within 10 minutes of the initiation of acupressure. Quick resuscitation of newborns is critical to preventing hypoxia and hypercapnia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
