Abstract
- The article reviews a study that examined the effects of the micronutrient zinc on the secretion of growth hormone (GH), insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1), IGF binding protein 3 (IGFBP3), osteoclacin (OCN) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) in healthy and euthropic children. Topics include forty schoolchildren being submitted to oral zinc supplementation over a 3-month period. Also mentioned are conclusions on effects of zinc supplementation on macronutrients and hormones of the GH-IGF1 system.
