Abstract

The article discusses research analyzing the iron contents in fresh, dried, and toasted nori Pyropia yezoensis. Topics discussed include analysis of contribution of iron storage protein ferritin to iron storage in raw and dried nori, research on mechanism for iron storage in algae mainly on prokaryotic and eukaryotic unicellular microalgae, and role of ferritin in iron storage, in the proliferation of cyanobacteria and bloomforming marine pennate diatoms.
