Abstract

The article offers information about the history of the Ancient Middle East. Egyptians begin building the great pyramids in the desert in 2700 BC. Some of the first written laws are created in Babylonia in 1792 BC. They are called the Code of Hammurabi. Hebrew people settle in Canaan in Palestine after escaping from slavery in Egypt in 1200 BC. They are led by the prophet Moses. They believed that God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai when they fled Egypt. Palestine was invaded by many different peoples after 1000 BC. It came under Arab Muslim control in the 600s and remained mainly under Muslim control until the 1900s. In 336 BC, Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, builds an empire from Egypt to India. Around 4 BC, Jesus Christ, the founder of the Christian religion is born in Bethlehem.
