Abstract
- The article reports on initiative taken by Landscape Design students of the University of Massachusetts (UMass) Amherst for decorating market place of Downtown Springfield. Topics discussed include role of urban design professor Frank Sleegers in motivating the students, decoration by using spray-chalk designs and paper lantern and cooperation of the Springfield Business Improvement District (SBID), the U.S. Community Development Block Grant and the Cultural District in supporting students.
