Abstract
- The article discusses the health problems of U.S. veterans who participated in the atomic cleanup of Enewetak Atoll in the Marshall Islands in the 1970s. Topics covered include nuclear weapons testing conducted by the U.S. government in the area from 1948 to 1958, high cancer rates among veterans of the Enewetak cleanup, and other sicknesses that could be attributed to radiation exposure. U.S. Representative Mark Takai's introduction of the Atomic Veterans Healthcare Parity Act is also cited.
