Abstract
- The University of Illinois wants a larger stake in the skinny, flat-screen plasma televisions which can be seen everywhere from rap stars' bedrooms to airport lounges. To get it, the university is enmeshed in a high-stakes legal battle with Fujitsu Ltd., a Japanese conglomerate that bills itself as the world's leading source of plasma-display televisions. In a lawsuit pending before the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, the university alleges that Fujitsu's TVs infringe on patents, it holds for technology that essentially keeps the plasma from boiling in large-screen formats.
