An Open-Source Strategy for Documenting Events: The Case Study of the 42nd Canadian Federal Election on Twitter.

A case study is presented regarding the 42nd Canadian Federal Election on the social media website Twitter with reference to a research by the Web Archives for Historical Research Group at the University of Waterloo in Waterloo, Ontario, analyzing a significantly large number of tweets. Topics discussed include capturing of the tweets with #elxn42 hashtag, use of the twarc, a command line tool, for data collection, and ways of archiving.
