Abstract

The article examines the value and vulnerability of the traditional public trust doctrine in the U.S. It discusses the importance of application of traditional public trust concepts to the preservation of aesthetic and ecological values in addition to navigation, fishing, and other water-based activities in the country. It reports that the doctrine require each state preserve navigable water and underlying land for the benefit of all citizens.
