Abstract
- The article focuses on socialism and the coexistence of international socialism with nationalism in Oklahoma and considers the debate over exceptionalism, particularly in Midwestern socialism historiography. Topics mentioned include historian Frederick Jackson Turner and his essay entitled "The Significance of the American Frontier in American History," Oklahoma's local socialist press, and the national challenges of writing history.
