Abstract
- The article explores the 1941 book "The Colossus of Maroussi," by the late writer Henry Miller, to examine the extent to which Miller expresses and represents a kind of humanism in the wake of a dying humanism, having been written right before and on the cusp of the Second World War outbreak. Topics discussed include Miller's representation of himself as the worst off in progressive modernity at which he is at odds, Hegelian teleology, and Miller's relation to the narrative.
