Abstract
- A literary criticism of the story "Mrs Bathurst" by Rudyard Kipling is presented. It discusses about the period of the story in South Africa after the Second Boer War, and in phase of rivalry between European powers for the colonisation and exploitation of the continent, the tragic love story of Mrs. Bathurst the combination of personal experience and imperialist, or Orientalist attitudes.
