Abstract

The article presents information about developments in the U.S. Senate. The U.S. Senate Republican leaders are expecting to pass the corporate legislation that solves the festering trade dispute with the European Union. As that debate gets under way, Senate-House negotiators also will continue to search for elusive agreements on an FY05 budget resolution and the reauthorization bill for federal highway and transit programs. According to Republican Party aide, the corporate tax bill's managers have a tentative agreement on the first several amendments that would be considered addressing outsourcing, more tax benefits for manufacturers and expanding trade adjustment assistance to service employees.
