Abstract
- SCOTLAND Women came agonisingly close to causing a major upset against the third best team in the world last night at Scotstoun. Home captain Lisa Thomson failed to convert a late penalty which would have drawn Shade Munro's side level against Canada, who pipped the Scots to victory. An early penalty by Helen Nelson put the hosts in front, only for the visitors to strike back with a try from Olivia DeMerchant. Tausani Levale soon scored a second try for the Canadians. However, Annie Evans then went over in the corner and Jade Konkel also ran in a try to give Scotland a dramatic interval lead. The teams traded tries after the break, with Tyson Beukeboom and Janna Slevinsky scoring for Canada -and Scotland's Thomson and Emma Wassell finding joy. [ABSTRACT FROM PUBLISHER]
