Abstract

The article focuses on the need of nanocellulose materials for conservation of modern easel paintings. It discusses the requirement of alternative approach with properties like reversibility, stability and compatibility rather than using materials like vinyl and acrylic-based resins and how nanocellulose has tunability for reinforcement. It also atlks about the use of nanofibrillated (CNF) and nanocrystalline cellulose (CNC) particles, the inspection of surface topography for conserving fabric topology.
