- Reports that a federal district judge in Beaumont, Texas backed the U.S. Department of Agriculture's claim that batter-coated frozen french fries are considered fresh vegetables under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act of 1930. Characteristics of frozen fries; Fleming Co.'s challenging of the classification as part of its effort to pull out of bankruptcy.
