- The article deals with British sculptor John Flaxman's funerary monument for Lord Chief Justice, William Murray, First Earl of Mansfield in Westminster Abbey, that was completed in 1801. Topics discussed include additional designs and correspondence, issues related to the site-specificity of the monument, particularly the discussions between Flaxman and his patron David Murray, and the huge influence of the monument's design.
