Abstract
- The article focuses on the effect of elimination of long research papers in a media history course. According to the author, instead of a research paper, each student in the media history course turns in a carefully defined content exercise every three or four weeks, corresponding to the period of history under discussion in class. Each student is assigned specific dates of a specific newspaper or magazine. That insures broader coverage. Students report that each assignment takes about two hours of library time.
