Abstract

The international company has always had a tendency towards complex organisation structure and difficulties of management control. Figure 1 demonstrates how multinationals tend towards matrix structures. Multinationals historically have moved along the route of increasing product diversity, followed by geographic expansion, or geographic expansion followed by product diversity.
