Abstract
- The article discusses decline in conditions for academics across the Middle East. It mentions no precise figures concerning the extent of academic displacement, dislocation and disruption. It reveals that in response to the alarming increase in the numbers of scholars and academics from the region forced out of their home institutions, the Middle East Studies Association (MESA) Global Academy initiative was developed in 2016.
