Abstract

Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were obtained to determine the characteristics of receiving preoperative rehabilitation services. Compared with patients treated in the southeastern region of the country, those treated in the south central (OR, 2.52 [95% CI, 1.82-3.48]) or Mountain Pacific (OR, 1.62 [95% CI, 1.11-2.37]) were more likely to receive preoperative rehabilitation. Objective To determine which patient- or facility-level characteristics influence the decision to initiate rehabilitation before lower-extremity amputation within the Veterans Affairs health care system.
