Abstract

The following study explores how the preservation of the sense of community through collaborative mechanisms and the strengthening of a Smart city governance reduce the vulnerability of cities. Chiloé archipelago is selected as the case to study, given its vernacular architecture, in relation to wood, geography, cultural enrichment associated with tourism and a consolidated and integrated governance model for its population. The paper reviews secondary sources and build an urban management model, applied to the case, to conclude that preserving the sense of community and strengthening Smart city governance, reduces the vulnerability of cities in a sustainable approach.
