Abstract

With social media becoming a part of people's lives, Internet Public Opinion (IPO) is regarded as an important consideration that affects people's decision-making. However, it is also easy to be manipulated with intentions through specific methods to spread malicious thoughts or false information. IPO manipulation behavior is also an important indicator of "fake news" detection, so IPO manipulation detection techniques have been extensively studied in the past few years; however, this topic still lacks a systematic survey regarding various detection techniques. In order to solve this problem, this paper first introduces the characteristics and influencing factors of IPO, followed by sorting out the relevant literature in Google Scholar with specific keywords. This paper organizes the relevant literature into three main aspects, which are content-based, profile-based, and pattern-based, and provides a detailed analysis of each aspect and indicates their contributions. Furthermore, the research gaps and future research directions are also provided in this paper. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
