The concept may be explicit in a mission statement and/or seen as a moral obligation shown through service and beginning with values.</list-item><list-item>The nature and content of school programs shaped social accountability, including student selection, involvement of communities in decision making and use of a curriculum that addresses the needs of underserved populations.</list-item></list></td><td><list list-type="Bullet"><list-item>Social accountability as a concept is not universal and should continue to be challenged and debated.</list-item><list-item>Understanding of social accountability may be limited, even when enacted in school programs.
