Abstract

Researchers from Bharathidasan University in Tamil Nadu, India, have conducted a study on imidazole therapy and its potential as a sirtuin inhibitor. Sirtuins are a family of enzymes that regulate cellular processes by removing acetyl groups from proteins. The researchers used in-silico and in-vitro methods to evaluate the inhibitory effects of imidazole derivatives on sirtuins, specifically in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell lines. The results suggest that Ethyl 2-[5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-methyl-1-H-Imidazole-4-yl) acetate has a strong inhibitory effect on nuclear sirtuins in NSCLC cell lines. This research contributes to the emerging strategy of targeting sirtuins to combat carcinogenesis. [Extracted from the article]
