Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the First Affiliated Hospital of Bengbu Medical College examined the benefits of single-room management in an intensive care unit (ICU) for preventing hospital-acquired infections. The study analyzed the prevalence of pathogenic bacterial infections and changes in drug resistance among major pathogens from 2016 to 2020. The results showed a decreasing trend in the ratio of pathogenic bacteria to the number of beds each year. The introduction of single-room wards was found to reduce the presence of multi-drug resistant bacteria. The study concluded that single-room management in ICUs can effectively reduce the risk of cross-infection without adverse effects. [Extracted from the article]
