Abstract
- Researchers from Fuzong Clinical Medical College of Fujian Medical University have developed an antibacterial coating for titanium implants to prevent and treat implant-related infections. The coating, which consists of TiO2 nanotubes with iodine doping, was found to have superior antimicrobial properties against Staphylococcus aureus compared to untreated titanium plates and TiO2-nanocoated titanium plates. This new coating technology provides a theoretical basis for the development of anti-infective implants in orthopedics. The research was published in the Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research.
