Abstract

A recent study investigated the Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) response in human cases of leptospirosis, a bacterial infection. The study found that in a cohort of confirmed leptospirosis cases, some individuals exhibited down-regulation of the TLR2 gene expression, while others showed no significant change. These findings contrast with previous studies that have reported upregulation of TLR2 in laboratory models. Further research is needed to understand the role of TLR2 in the pathogenesis of leptospirosis in clinical settings. This preprint has not yet undergone peer review. [Extracted from the article]
