The human Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) response during pathogenic Leptospira infection.

A recent study investigated the Toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) response in human cases of leptospirosis, a bacterial infection. The study found that in a cohort of confirmed leptospirosis cases, some individuals exhibited down-regulation of the TLR2 gene expression, while others showed no significant change. These findings contrast with previous studies that have reported upregulation of TLR2 in laboratory models.
