Abstract

A recent study conducted by researchers from Mahasarakham University focused on the antibiofilm and antibacterial activities of lupinifolin, a compound derived from Derris reticulata Craib stem, in combination with protein synthesis inhibitors against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). The study found that lupinifolin and tetracycline significantly reduced MRSA biofilm formation, while streptomycin and clindamycin tended to enhance biofilm formation. The combination of lupinifolin and streptomycin exhibited synergy in inhibiting MRSA biofilm formation, while the combination of lupinifolin and tetracycline or clindamycin did not show any interaction. These findings suggest that lupinifolin has the potential to enhance antibiofilm activity and reduce MRSA biofilm formation. [Extracted from the article]
