Abstract
- A recent study conducted at the National Research Centre in Cairo, Egypt, focused on the development of new compounds to combat Multi-Drug-Resistant (MDR) strains of Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (PA). The researchers synthesized quinoline compounds and tested their antimicrobial activity against these bacteria. They found that two compounds showed the highest antimicrobial activity against PA, while two other compounds exhibited significant inhibition activity against MRSA and PA. Molecular modeling and simulations were used to determine the mode of action for the antimicrobial effect. The study also investigated the electrochemical properties of the compounds using density-functional theory (DFT) calculations. [Extracted from the article]
