Abstract

A recent study conducted by the Julius Kuehn Institute, the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety, and the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment aimed to gather field data on exposure to pesticide spray drift in orchards. The study used adult and child mannequins to simulate bystanders' exposure and measured ground sediment using petri dishes. The results showed that drift reduction settings significantly reduced exposure levels on the mannequins, and there was a strong correlation between exposure values for adults and children. The study provides valuable data for understanding the risks of pesticide application and suggests potential risk management options for safe application in the future. [Extracted from the article]
