Abstract

This article provides an overview of the ecological studies conducted on Nardostachys grandiflora, an endangered medicinal plant found in the alpine region of Sikkim Himalaya. The plant is known for its medicinal and aromatic properties and is used to treat various conditions. However, the species is at risk of extinction due to over-collection, habitat degradation, and climate change. The study reveals low population densities of N. grandiflora in the observed sites, particularly in the North and East districts. Urgent conservation measures are needed to protect this highly endangered plant. The study suggests strategies such as sustainable harvesting, reintroduction of plants, and regular monitoring to conserve the species. [Extracted from the article]
