Abstract
- Researchers at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand have developed a new drug delivery system using silk fibroin hydrogels and a synthesized material called poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS). The PEDOT:PSS acts as a drug carrier, with insulin as the model drug. The study found that the combination of the PEDOT:PSS and silk fibroin hydrogel resulted in increased swelling and pore size, allowing for controlled release of insulin. This new system shows promise for transdermal delivery of insulin for diabetes patients. [Extracted from the article]
