Abstract

A report from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia explores the relationship between social support, physical activity, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) among adults with visual impairments. The study found that social support positively predicted physical activity participation, which in turn predicted the physical component of HRQoL. However, there was no significant relationship between physical activity and the mental component of HRQoL. The participants in the study reported lower HRQoL compared to the general US population. The findings suggest that social support can influence psychological HRQoL among adults with visual impairments. [Extracted from the article]
