Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers from the University of Jinan in Guangzhou, China, aimed to explore the association between neurological dysfunction and serum levels of Interleukin-6 (IL-6) and Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta) in patients undergoing isoflurane inhalation anesthesia. The study included 88 patients who underwent isoflurane anesthesia, and their Mini-Mental State Examination scale (MMSE) scores were measured at different time points. The results showed that patients with neurological dysfunction had higher levels of IL-6 and IL-1 beta and lower MMSE scores compared to the normal group. The researchers concluded that these cytokines could be valuable indicators for the early detection of neurological dysfunction following anesthesia. [Extracted from the article]
