Abstract

Researchers from Virginia Commonwealth University have developed a practical and scalable synthesis process for the production of succinylcholine chloride, a neuromuscular blocking agent used in medicine. The process utilizes readily available starting materials and avoids the need for a recrystallization step. The researchers were able to achieve an average yield of 89% and meet the quality specifications for the active pharmaceutical ingredient. This research was supported by Phlow Corporation and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
