Abstract
- A study conducted by researchers at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska, examined the effects of preoperative amiodarone on primary graft dysfunction (PGD) in heart transplant patients. The study found that cumulative preoperative amiodarone exposure increased the odds of severe PGD at 3 and 6 months post-transplant. Patients on amiodarone also had higher rates of postoperative bradycardia. The researchers concluded that the findings are clinically concerning and highlight the need for further investigation. The study was published in the Annals of Pharmacotherapy. [Extracted from the article]
