Abstract

A new report from the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle discusses the use of extracorporeal photopheresis (ECP) for the treatment of various immune-related conditions. The study compares the use of heparin and acid citrate dextrose-A (ACDA) as anticoagulants during ECP treatment. The research found that overall, the ECP system performed similarly with both anticoagulants, but ACDA showed potential benefits in reducing variability in photoactivation time. The study was supported by Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals and has been peer-reviewed. [Extracted from the article]
