Abstract

Researchers at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) have conducted a study on the stability of inclusion complexes of chlorpropamide and cyclodextrin using molecular dynamics simulations. The study found that the complexes were stable and that the stabilization was driven by hydrophobic interactions between cyclodextrin and chlorpropamide. The research also revealed a correlation between the electron density contributions to weak interactions and the glucopyranose units in each cyclodextrin. The findings suggest that beta-type cyclodextrins are important for creating reliable inclusion complexes, which could have potential applications in molecular encapsulation and drug delivery systems.
