Abstract
- A recent study conducted at Uludag University in Bursa, Turkey, explored the use of blood-based biomarkers to predict the risk of amyloidosis and the severity of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF). The researchers focused on a marker called the pan-immune-inflammation value (PIV), which consists of four subsets of blood cells. They found that PIV, along with other markers such as C-reactive protein (CRP), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and red blood cell distribution width, could be useful in predicting both amyloidosis and moderate-to-severe disease in FMF patients. This research provides valuable insights into the potential use of biomarkers for diagnosing and managing FMF. [Extracted from the article]
