Abstract

The first document is a legal digest discussing a court ruling on jury instructions regarding commitment time frames for individuals found not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI). The court found that the instructions given in the case were in line with recommended changes outlined in previous cases, striking a balance between informing the jury and preventing unfair biases against the defendant. The second document is a legal digest summarizing a court case in which the Georgia Supreme Court upheld a statutory cap of $250,000 on punitive damages in a negligence case against a behavioral health facility. The court ruled that the cap was constitutional and that there was no constitutional right to a trial by jury in this case. The court also found no violation of separation of powers or equal protection under the law. [Extracted from the article]
