Abstract

A study conducted by researchers at the University of Central Florida examines patient- and community-level factors that influence health outcomes in the Mayo Clinic's hospital-at-home program. The study analyzed data from 1,433 patients and found that older age, male gender, and severity of illness were significant predictors of adverse outcomes such as mortality and readmission. Interestingly, patients with COVID-19 were less likely to experience these adverse outcomes. At the community level, factors such as the Gini Index and internet access were found to be significant predictors of mortality. The study shows promise in providing equitable treatment for diverse patient populations. [Extracted from the article]
