Abstract

Alfreton Park School, located in a semi-rural setting in Alfreton, Derbyshire, takes advantage of its surroundings to provide flexible learning spaces and a progressive approach to pupils' special needs. The school is part of a small campus of public-service buildings, including a day care center and a hydrotherapy pool. The design of the school incorporates outdoor play spaces and avoids long blind corridors, with classrooms facing inwards for better visibility. The school is designed to accommodate students with a range of special needs, including those who use wheelchairs, and has room for future expansion. The construction cost of the school was £13.2 million. [Extracted from the article]
