Abstract

A study conducted at the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College in China examined the diagnostic value of tuberculosis-specific antigens ESAT-6 and CFP10 in lymph node tuberculosis. The researchers compared the effectiveness of acid-fast staining and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining in detecting these antigens. The results showed that IHC staining for ESAT-6 had a sensitivity of 87.5% and a specificity of 85.3%, while IHC staining for CFP10 had a sensitivity of 75.0% and a specificity of 89.7%. The study suggests that IHC staining may be a useful supplementary diagnostic tool for lymph node tuberculosis. [Extracted from the article]
