Abstract
- A recent study conducted in Rome, Italy, focused on the rehabilitation of speech and language disorders, specifically alaryngeal speech. The study aimed to determine the percentage of use of the Automatic Speaking Valve (ASV) in laryngectomized patients with voice prosthesis (VP) and to identify the main reasons for non-use. The researchers proposed a specific rehabilitation training based on moving phonatory exercises. The results showed a significant increase in ASV usage after the training, with patients reporting high levels of treatment compliance and satisfaction. The study concluded that a targeted approach simulating everyday phonatory and breathing difficulties can increase the ASV usage rate. [Extracted from the article]
