Abstract
- A new study conducted by researchers at Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham has found that a hypofractionated radiotherapy schedule of 60Gy in 20 fractions over four weeks offers comparable local disease control with reasonable long-term side effects in T1 glottic cancer. The study included 105 patients with stage I glottic cancer who received this treatment, and the primary objective was to assess locoregional control. The study found that the disease-free survival at five years and ten years were 83% and 69%, and overall survival at five years and ten years were 87% and 80%, respectively. The majority of patients reported grade I skin reactions and tolerated the treatment well, with no observed late adverse events. [Extracted from the article]
